The Ujjayanta Palace, former home to the royal family members of the Manikya Dynasty, is an important tourist attraction in the city. Today, however, this majestic monument stands as the legislatively assembly of the state. The palace was built by Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya and named by India's favorite poet Rabindranath Tagore.
