The small rural town is located about 7 km from Santiniketan. The drive, and if you prefer the walk, takes you through the beautiful landscape of semi urban India. It is situated on the bank of the river Kopai. It is a gram panchayat under Bolpur Sriniketan block. It is one of the Shakti Peethas where the waist (or kankal in Bengali) of Parvati fell. There are several temples in the town.
