Bole is a county-level city in Xinjiang Province, China. Bole means "brown grasslands/steppe" in Mongolian. Bole is the seat of Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, which borders Kazakhstan. The main city is also called Bole. It is 524 km from Urumuchi.
The main tourist attraction in Bole region is the Sailimu lake. The lake is situated in the south between Bole and Huocheng. This a 30km long by 20km wide lake is surrounded by beautiful highland grassland that has about 2000 Mongol and Kazak households. Though the lake one of the further point on earth from the sea, the water of this blue lake has strong waves just like the sea.
