Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri is the district headquarters of the Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal, India. This city has derived its name from the word ‘Jalpai’ meaning ‘Olives’, and the suffix ‘Guri’, which means land. The olives have known to be grown profusely in the area during the 1900. The topography of the town has many hills and rivers which enhance the beauty of this place. The town has majorly rural population, which reside in the forest villages and tea gardens. It shares the international borders with Bangladesh and Bhutan. The town is very appropriately nicknamed as the land of ‘Tea, Tourism and Timber’. This town with untouched natural beauty is great place of tourist interest in West Bengal.

Jalpaiguri is bounded by Bhutan in the North and Bangladesh in the South. It is a famous tourist place particularly known for the number of tea gardens, rice farms and heavy downpour. While being a beautiful tourist destination, it is comparatively less crowded and undisturbed in nature.
