A freshwater lake in Uttarakhand, trek perched at 3085 meters is a feast for the eyes. Legend has it that Lord Ganesha chose this place as his abode and there is a temple dedicated to him here. Known as The Land of Gods, Uttarakhand presents a dramatic terrain with beautiful lakes, serene rivers and mountains and rising Himalayan peaks.
The trek includes camping alongside the beautiful Dodital ( Dodi Lake) before traversing the Darwa Pass. The pass affords impressive views of the mighty Bandarpunch and the snowy ridges of the Dhaula Dhar as well as the forested ridges and meadows leading down to Hanuman Chatti a famous pilgrim town. There are interesting side trips, including a foray to Yamunotri and the the Bandarpunch Base Camp from this trek. Dodital is situated at an elevation of 3050 metres surrounded by oak woods, pine, and rhodendron forests. The lake is home to the famous Himalayan Golden Mahseer fish. The many delights of the Dodital trek and Darwa Pass include a visit Sangam Chatti, a quaint village market place and getting a whiff of Gujar settlement. Make way along meadows dusted with snow, laced with pine trees and witness the awe-inspiring Himalayas. Also, if you wish, enjoy the ascend to Dodital route through mixed forests.
Day 01: Rishikesh - Uttarkashi ( 210 kms Drive)
The day starts with a beautiful drive towards Uttarkashi. The different colours of Himalayan beauty are displayed in different sects i.e. flora, landscape and local settlements. The drive takes you through the historic town of Narendranagar, goes past along the river Bhagirathi Ganga and continues to the holy town of Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Hotel Uttarakashi.
Day 02: Uttarkashi - Sangamchatti ( Drive 14 kms ) - Agoda / Bevra (2250 mts/7380 ft) - (8.5 kms/ 4-5 hrs)
Early Morning Packup your Trekking Gears & Take Brekfast there after Drive to Sangamchatti, Arrive Sangamchatti You are introduced to the trekking team and see porters / pony men. The day starts with crossing over the river Asiganga on a well made bridge, which is followed by an ascend of 5 km to take you to the village of Agoda. The local inhabitants of the village could be seen going to and fro from Sangamchatti, some busy in the fields others involved in their day to day activities. From here the trail is gradual for about 2 kilometers and continues to the village of Bhebra, which is marked with crossing over a side stream on a bridge and a couple of houses which serve as guest houses and hotels for the tourists. Beyond Bhebra the trail starts to climb until it reaches the top of the ridge marked with a sun shed. Lunch & Dinner Overnight in the tents.
Day 03: Agora / Bevra - Dodital (3307 10847 ft) (15 Kms/ 7 hrs) Dodital Trek
After Breakfast Trek to Dodital with Packed Lunch, The day's walk is relaxing and less challenging in comparison to the previous one. The trail passes through the forest of Rhododendron, involves a couple of side stream crossings goes over steep cliffs finally reaches the magnificent lake of Dodital. The Dodital is a gorgeous lake with the temple of Ganesha, couple of guest houses and excellent campsite by the lake. Dinner & Overnight in the tents.
Day 04: Dodital (3307 mts/10847 ft) - Darwa Top (4150 m) (5 kms/ 3 hrs)
After Breakfast Trek to Darwa Top with Packed Lunch, Though the day's walk is of 5 kilometers only still an early start is suggested in order to have captivating views on the pass.. The day starts with the trail winding up at the feeding end of the lake, passing through the narrow gorges, birch forest, rocky colonies, and involves a series of rivulet crossings leads to high meadows. Later the trail gets steep with a few switch backs finally takes you to the pass. The stunning view of Bandar punch Peak and Swargarohini range is immaculate and most adorable. Later start reverse trek towards Dodital.
The scenic beauty of Dodital can compel any nature lover to camp here for days together. The lake has a surrounding pine forest with the Darwa meadow towering on one side and the open wide valley on the other is really awesome. A few rivulets which together make a distinguishing stream coming from Darwa meadow feed the lake. The evening pooja at the Ganesha temple adds to the energy of the place is really pleasant. Day 05: Dodital - Agoda / Bevra (2250 mts/7380 ft) (17 kms/4-5 hrs)
After Breakfast Trek Back to Bevra with Packed Lunch The reverse trek to Agoda is long one but not a challenging one. Its really a beautiful walk cherishing the spirits. The views lower down the valley are equally admirable that insist the photography lovers. Dinner & Overnight in the tents.
Day 06: Agoda - Sangm Chatti (7 kms trek ) - Rishikesh (177 kms Drive)
After Breakfast trek through the settlements of Agoda village finally takes you to Sangam Chatti Board the vehicles and start driving towards Rishikesh. Lunch enroute . On arrive in rishikesh tour end.
