Narendra Nagar is a Tehsil in Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand State, India. Narendra Nagar Tehsil Head Quarters is Narendra Nagar town . It is located 36 KM towards South from District head quarters Tehri. 35 KM from State capital Dehradun towards west. Located at a distance of 20 kilometres from Rishikesh, Narendra Nagar lies in the Tehri Garhawl district of Uttrakhand and is situated at a height of 1,326 meters above sea level. The town came into existence 1919, when the Tehri Garhawl ruler Maharaja Narendra shah moved his capital to the picturesque location of Odathali or Narendra nagar.

On a clear day one can get aerial view of Rishikesh, Haridwar and Ganga flowing from mountains to Plains of Haridwar. The town is well planned and the buildings are neatly placed and are a century old, many of these like the secretariat and the hospital are still in use. This is a recommended ‘to be visited’ location by us with attractions such as ‘The Narendra Nagar Palace’, which is now home to ‘Ananda – In the Himalayas’, a destination spa, that looks down into the Doon valley from its majestic height of 3000 feet.

Two roads begin from Muni-ki reti. While one goes along the bank of the Ganga to continue to Sri Badrinath and Sri Kedarnath, the other branches off to the left, climbing gradually through rich dense forest slopes on to the small picturesque hill resort town of Narendra Nagar. This was once the capital of the old state of Tehri Garhwal. The palaces of the former Maharaja, Narendra Shah of Tehri, as well as some of the district offices of Tehri Garhwal are located here. One of the palaces has now been converted into a deluxe five star spa, called “Ananda in the Himalayas”.
