A city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad is referred to as the "Gateway of UP". It serves as an administrative headquarters of the district of the same name and is a part of the National Capital Region of Delhi. It is a planned industrial city, well-connected by roadways and railways and an education hub for western UP. The city was founded by the emperor Ghazi-ud-din in 1740 and was earlier named after him as Ghaziuddinnagar; however, the name was later changed to Ghaziabad.The city has been witnessing industrial growth since its inception. There are many manufacturing industries in the city such as industries for bicycles, glasswork, embroideries and paint to name a few. Bhushan Steels, Bharat Electronics Limited, Dabur and Rathi Alloys are some of the companies whose corporate houses are located in Ghaziabad.
