Luzhou is a prefecture-level city located in the southeast of Sichuan Province, China. The city, named Jiangyang until the Southern and Northern Dynasties, is known as the "wine city". This area lies at the transition area between the southern Sichuan Basin and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The terrain slopes downward from the south to the north. River valleys and hills make northern Luzhou a land of milk and honey. Its southern mountainous area boasts rich forest and mineral resources.
