Bazhong is a prefecture-level city in north-eastern Sichuan province, China. Situated in the northeast of Sichuan Province, Bazhong City is bordered by Hanzhong of Shaanxi Province in the north, and in neighborhood of Dazhou, Nanchong and Guangyuan respectively in the east, south and west with in the province. Bazhong was made a prefecture-level city in 1993. Its history, however, goes back much further. During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, it was purportedly a vassal territory of the Liang State. In the Spring and Autumn period, it was called Bazi. In the Qin and Western Han dynasties it was called Ba County. In the Eastern Han Dynasty around the year 100 AD it was changed to Hanchang County. One hundred years later it reverted to Baxi County. Since then, it has usually either been called Liang County or Yi County



Guangwu Mountain rises in Nanjiang County at the convergence of Sichuan and Shaanxi Provinces. The mountain resort is characterized by elegant peaks covered with flourishing plants, and is reputed as the top natural scenic spots of Bazhong City. Nuoshui River flows through the north of Tongjiang County and recorded as a national key scenic areas in 2004. Strange rock formations, waterfalls, limestone caves and underground rivers are scatter all around this scenic area.
