Dezhou is a prefecture-level city in northwestern Shandong province, People's Republic of China. It borders the provincial capital of Jinan to the southeast, Liaocheng to the southwest, Binzhou to the northeast, and the province of Hebei to the north. Located in the northwest of Shandong Province, Dezhou City neighbors Hebei Province in the north and Shanxi Province in the west. It is in the neighborhood of Jinan, the capital city of Shandong in the south and adjacent to Shengli Oilfield of Dongying City and Jiaodong Peninsular in the east. The city's history can be traced back more than four thousand years according to the elaborate articles of black pottery that have been excavated in the area. Yu the Great dredged nine rivers to control flooding and five of the rivers run through it. Dezhou Region was established in 1950 and promoted to being a regional city in 1994.

Dezhou's biggest historical attraction is the tomb of Sultan Paduka Pahala of Sulu, who died in Dezhou on his return journey from a visit to the Yongle Emperor in 1417. For tourist attractions, there is also a famous temple in Qingyun County. It's called Haidao Jinshan Temple, which is one of the biggest centers of Buddhism in Northern China. The most attractive scene is the underground aisle where the portrait of the hell is presented using high technology.
