Sujangarh is a city in the Churu district in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, India. It belongs to Bikaner Division. It is located 96 KM towards South from District head quarters Churu. It is a Tehsil head quarter. Sujangarh was originally known as Harbuji Ka Kot , a Rajput warrior. Much later, the township of Sujangarh as it presently exists was established by the eighth chieftain of Bikaner Maharaja Surat Singh. Sujangarh subdivision has 151 villages owned by Rathors descendants of Bida clan who founded the city. The city was named later after Maharaja Sujjan Singh of Bikaner. The glorious fort of Sujangarh was established by Thakur of Sandwa and is an architectural delight along with the splendid Havelis, a bungalow built by the British Government and the erstwhile village of Gopalura hill and city, earlier known as Dronpur the instructor of Pandavas.
Sujangarh was named after Maharaja Sujjan Singh of Bikaner. Notable for the famous fort of Sandwa dating back to the 18th century, along with the village of Gopalpura, Havelis and temples of Salasar Balaji and Venkateshwara Tirupati, The interesting fact of visiting Sujangarh is the opportunity to visit two other neighboring places of Ladnun and Jaswantgarh and the trio are known together as ‘Sujala’.
