Rawatbhata is a town and a municipality in kota Chittorgarh district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is 50 km from the nearest city Kota. This moderately populated town with some small villages adjacent to it, is mostly known for atomic power generation. It is the biggest atomic power generation site in India with 6 units being active and two units being in the project stage. Rana Pratap Saagar Dam(on Chambal river) is situated there for the support in power generation activity. Since the power is generated through nuclear fission process, a heavy water plant is also situated there because heavy water is used as the moderator for the process. Due to radiation, the atomic power generation site has been kept more than 10 kilometres away from the residential area.
