Mohali is a city located in the western part of Chandigarh and is a continuation of the capital city. Named after the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh (SAS Nagar), it is the 18th district in Punjab. Earlier it was a part of Rupnagar district in Punjab, which is in the north of Mohali. Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala are located on the south of Mohali. A part of the Chandigarh Tricity along with Panchkula, Mohali has lush green open spaces and ecological ridges that have numerous bird species. Mohali is slowly developing into an IT hub, with the headquarters of many brands such as Dell, Quark, and Philips being located here.
The Mohali Cricket Stadium is a very popular venue where many international and domestic cricketing events have been organised. The Punjab Cricket Association in the year 1992 started the construction of the project in a swampy area, which was later on developed into a full-fledged stadium. Some of the facilities available here include swimming pool, practise nets and health clubs.
