Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal district is one of the centrally located district in Odisha (Formerly Orissa). Bordered by Kendujhar to the north, Jajpur to the east, Anugul to the west and Cuttack to the south, Dhenkanal is a beautiful city of the state Orissa and has many interesting places to visit. he major area of the district remains covered with a long range of hills which serves as a shelter to the animals like elephants, tigers and dense forests. Dhenkanal is very distinguished for its Bara, a traditional lunch prepared from rice and black gram. The classic sweetmeats of the city include Rasagulla, Rasabali, Chhenapoda and Chhenajhilli.

Dhenkanal is the place where the fertile soil for all religious sects and philosophies is available. Rightly from its inception to the present days, testimony is eloquent that , the Hindu sects like Baisnvism, Saivasism, Saktism etc flourished. Besides that, Buddhism to some extent also found a place of adoration. Mahima cult originated and spreaded from this place.
