Hotel Broadway , Mussoorie

Hotel Broadway is one of the few remaining cottages in Mussoorie which have managed to retain their old world charm while offering breath taking views of the pristine Himalayas and nostalgic experiences.

Located on the famous Camels Back Road and built on an edge of a mountain cliff, The Thanet Lodge, as it was earlier called, is very much part of Mussoorie’s colonial history. Its existence predates the first war of independence in 1857. Designed by an un-named European architect, the building has managed to retain its original character through its decades old history. Some of the rare photos of 19th century Mussoorie depict the hotel building in existence with no trace of construction in its vicinity, except for the Rink. The previous owner of the lodge, prior to the Indian Independence, was a British lady named Mrs. Ada Constance Lee. She used the building as her guest house. Subsequent to her death in 1946, the cottage was sold off by her daughters as per her will.

The "Thanet Lodge" was thus renamed as Hotel Broadway and re-started operations under guardianship of Late Shri C. L. Malik from April, 1958. At that time Hotel Broadway was one of the very few boutique hotels in Mussoorie catering to a select clientele comprising well known families and discerning travelers from across the globe. Some of these families continue to patronize the Hotel through more than three generations.
