Saswad

Saswad is a city and a municipal council in the Pune district of Maharashtra. Saswad is situated on the banks of Karha River. It is a place with long history. It was on the ancient trade route connecting the coastal Konkan ports to the deccan interiors. The samadhi or the resting place of the 13th century varkari sant Sopan is located in the town. In recent centuries it was known as the town at the foot of the historic Purandar fort. The first Peshwa from the Bhat family, Balaji Vishwanath had his base in the town. His son, Bajirao I moved his base in 1720 to nearby Pune and turned it into a large city.

Narayanpur & Purandar fort is just 7 km from here, Balaji temple (Ketkawle) is just 14 km from here. Also Katraj Zoo and Sarasbag are not far. The Eotte (Royal Purandar) city which are under construction are just 10 km from Saswad and other Magarpatta City, Amnnora Tower City are just 20 minutes from Saswad.
