Pusad is a town and a second largest municipal council in Yavatmal district after Yavatmal of Vidarbha region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It belongs to Vidarbha region. It belongs to Amravati Division. It is located 99 KM towards west from District head quarters Yavatmal. Pusad is known as "Educational Town" Because it has many schools and colleges from long time when it was uncommon in the surrounding area. When Lokmanya Tilak visited Pusad, he called Pusad as "Swarajyachi Pandhari". Although officially a Taluka place, Pusad is comparable to the size of a District in terms of size and revenue. A proposal of declaring Pusad a district officially is under procedure at the moment.
Pusad has a lot of temples around city and outside. One of the Shakti Pitha Mahur is located just 40 km east to the city. Following are other temples in and around the city. Pusad gets its name from River Pus, as the town is located on bank of river Pus. Pusad falls under Yavatmal district. Dudhagiri Maharaj Temple This temple is a one of the most famous temple in pusad. The Temple situated in Wonderful Village Dudhagiri.
