Pune

Pune is a city located in the western part of India and is a part of the state of Maharashtra. Known as "Punyanagari" in the olden days, it was once a centre of the Maratha Empire. Considered as the 'Queen of the Deccan' and the 'Oxford of the East', it is also known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Situated 1,837 feet above sea level on the Deccan Plateau at the banks of the River Mutha, it is also the district headquarters of the southern command of the Indian Army.
