Fuxin is a prefecture-level city in northwestern Liaoning province, People's Republic of China. Fuxin City lies in the northwest corner of Liaoning Province. Its neighbor city to the east is Shenyang, with Dalian to the north. Liaodong Bay is situated to its south. Historically, the region is located in a border area. It was governed primarily by regimes that were established by ethnic minorities in Northeast China. It was only administrated temporarily by a few dynasties in Central China. This region was successively inhabited by numerous ethnic groups, including the Donghu, Hun, Xianbei, Kitan, Jurchen, Mongol and Manchu.
Haitangshan National Forest Park is situated in Daban Township of the Fuxin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, and is 2.5 kilometers southwest of the city proper. Cliff Sculptures at the Haitang Mountain, which is commonly known as Lama Cave, is a man-made spectacle showing the excellent folk stone carving technique of ancient China. There are more than two hundred and sixty Buddhist figures on the cliff, and most of them were created three hundred years ago.
