Set on the banks of the Kerala backwaters, this heritage hotel has been converted from a 120-year-old home built by Syrian Christians. The Tharavadu Heritage Home Hotel in Kumarakom is run by the owners and offers large rooms in a traditional building decorated in local style. The rooms have modern amenities like air-conditioning and satellite television. The onsite restaurant serves excellent Indian and international cuisine, and there is a wide range of water sports on the canal, an art gallery and an Ayurvedic center. The resort is right next to a temple and the famous bird sanctuary. It is 80 kilometers from Cochin airport and 18 kilometers from the nearest railway station.
