The Maharaja of Travancore, Raja Marthanda Varma named it Poovar as he saw the beautiful red flowers blooming along the Neyyar River. This little piece of paradise, earlier known as Pokkumoosapuram is located in coastal Kerala in the district of Tiruvananthapuram and is cradled literally in the arms of nature. An island with an estuary, the River Neyyar flows through this hamlet and drains into the Arabian Sea Nestled in this pristine world, tinged in shades of emerald and turquoise is the Club Mahindra Poovar property, where you lose yourself in a dreamy, luxuriant world. The coconut trees lining up on either banks of the river bend towards you. Rivers alternate with seas. Little palm fringed islands greet you as you go on a backwater cruise. The white sands of the beach beckon you. Sometimes you see two horizons as the estuary leads you to the sea. This is where you bond with your family and shut your minds to urban chaos as you float away in these waters into a tranquil zone
