Shri Mahalaxmi Temple of Kolhapur is dedicated to Goddess Mahalaxmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the Lord resides in this area, along with the Goddess. The temple holds the distinction of being one of the Shakti Peethas in India and is held in great regard by the people of Maharashtra.
The New Palace located on the Bahvani Mandap-Kasaba Bavda Road was constructed in 1877-84 and has been the residence of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. The ground floor of the palace is converted into a museum that houses artifacts belonging to those times when the king ruled and his own possessions.

Town Hall Museum was started in the Kohlapur city in the year 1872 and it came to an end almost four years later. The main collection of Town Hall Museum comprises of pottery, bronze artifacts, old coins of the region, filigree work in sandalwood and ivory, works of master artists of the region, antiques.
