Thiruvananthapuram zoo is a century and half old being the fifth oldest in India, was set up by the former ruler and king of Travancore, Uthram Thirunal. It is a unique marvelous, with no rival in India for its design and layout. Major attractions include beautiful Victorian-style cages, the lake, the curling pathways, the lawns, and the nearby Top Garden. The zoo inhabits many rare and endangered species with most of them nourished in open enclosures.
