Peringathur is a census town in Talassery taluk of Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is part of Greater Mahe Region. It is believed that the name "Peringathur" was derived from Peringalath Ur, means the place where great wars took place. It gradually became Peringathur. Kanakamala, a small hill, situated near Peringathur where the asram of renowned writer "Nithya Chaithanya Yathi" is situated. This town situated in the southern border of Kannur district.
