Una is a city and a municipal council in Una district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, and shares its border with the Hoshiarpur District and ropar district of Punjab. The terrain is generally a plain with low hills. Una has been identified as a main industrial hub and has become a transit town for travellers going to the famous city of Dharamshala or locations within the Himalayas such as Kullu, Manali, Jawalamukhi, and Chintpurni. Una is home to the Kila, which is a historical fort and an ancestral home of the descendants of the first guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak. Una lies at an average elevation of 369 meters above sea level and is the lowest lying city in the state. Una is known to be revered for its distinctive Sikh influenced culture which distinguishes it from the rest of the cities in Himachal Pradesh.
A historical fort, known as Killa, is the most notable sightseeing of Una. This fort is believed to be the ancestral home of the descendants of Guru Nanak Dev. Chintpurni Temple is the chief religious centre of Una, which is also counted among the Shakti Pithas. Among other notable sightseeing attractions within Una District are Dera Baba Rudru Ashram, Shiv Bari, Baba Barbhag Singh Temple, Dhyunsar Mahadev Temple, Bangana Lathian Piplu and Baba Rudranand Ashram.
