Rewari


Rewari is a city and a municipal council in Rewari district in the Indian state of Haryana. Rewari may be considered centre of Ahirwal. Rewari is a place with history deep embeded in it. It is a place of Yaduvanshi Ahirs/Yadavas. The ancient city has its references in Indian epics like Rigveda and Mahabharata and it is also known as Brahmvarta, a place where Vedic Sanskriti was developed. A lesser-known yet powerful last Hindu emperor of the medieval period, Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, belonged to Rewari.



Rewari Heritage Steam Locomotive Museum is the only surviving steam loco shed in India and houses some of India's last surviving steam locomotives. Baag Wala Talab is situated near old tehsil office of Rewari, though presently it is dry. Fort of Bawal is a town of district Rewari, situated near Delhi-Jaipur National Highway. Bada Talab was built by Rao Tej Singh during the year 1810-1815, so it is also known as Rao Tej Singh Talab.
