Leizhou

Leizhou is a county-level city in Guangdong Province, China. It is under the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang prefecture-level city. The city was formerly known as Haikang County it was upgraded into a city in 1994. Leizhou is located at the extreme southwestern end of Guangdong and lies on the Leizhou Peninsula. There are many historical sites, such as the Ancestral Temple of Leizhou, Sanyuan Pagoda, Zhenwu Hall, ruins of the New Stone Age, kiln ruins of the Tang Dynasty, and tombs from the Han to the Yuan dynasties (206 BC- AD 1368). Many houses in Leizhou were built in the Qing Dynasty.
