Valiya Koyikkal Palace

Chengannur

This palace is situated at a distance of 14 kilometres from Chengannur. It is located in the holy town of Pandalam. It is believed that lord Ayyappa, the well-known character of Sabarimala, used to reside here. He disguised himself as the son of Maharaja Pandalam. It is believed to be a holy place. The ornaments of the deities of Sabrimalai Sastha have been preserved here for many years.



Pandavanpara

Pandavanpara, one of the most popular destinations in the South Indian state of Kerala, is believed to be the hiding spot of Pandavas, of the Mahabharata fame, and thus holds great religious significance for Hindus. There are several interesting rock structures here, which are not only visually delightful, but also hold great historical, spiritual and architectural significance. There is also a very famous temple in Pandavanpara, the residing deity being Lord Krishna.



Chengannur Mahadeva Temple

This is a famous temple of lord Shiva situated in the Chengannur town. This temple is well known for its architectural excellence in the whole of Kerala. It is located on the banks of Pamba River. There are nearly 28 idols of various deities in the courtyard of Sri Mahadeva Temple. The chief idols are of lord Shiva and Parvathi. This large temple has a circular Sanctum where the idol of Lord Shiva is facing east and the idol of Goddess is facing west. The gold-plated Shivalingam of this temple is bearing the image of the Shiva-Shakthi (Ardhanareeswara). The Shivalingam of this temple is believed to be emerged on its own.



Chengannur Bhagavathy Temple

This temple is located Chengannur, a village situated 40 km away from the town of Kottayam in Kerala. Lord Maha Deva is consecrated facing east and the Goddess Bhagawathy is facing west in this temple. What is very unique about this temple is that the people believe that the Goddess has periods once in a while at this temple. There is also a temple of Vishnu in Chengannur. Nammazhawar has visited this temple and sung about Lord Vishnu there. People believe that Yudhishtra built the first temple of Lord Vishnu to get rid of his sin of telling a lie in the battle field.



Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple

Chengannur

Dedicated to Lord Sree Krishna, this temple siutated on the banks of the holy River Pamba, attracts large crowds of devotees. It is said that the idol was brought here in a raft made with aru (six) pieces of mula (bamboo) which gave the town its name, Aranmula. Various cultural organisations at Aranmula imparts training in traditional arts like Kathakali, classical dances, classical music and Kalaripayattu. The temple has fine murals of the 18th century.



Thrichittatt Maha Vishnu Temple

Thrichittatt Maha Vishnu temple is located 2 km away from Chengannur. It is believed to have been built by Yudhishtra,the eldest of the Pandavas. It is one of the pancha pandava temple circuits.It is an very ancient temple going by the fact that it is mentioned by Nammalvar, a Vaishnav saint who lived in 3102 BC. He has sung songs on the deity of the temple and the place. The Lord faces east and the holy tank is known Shanku Teertam ( or tank of the conch). Unlike other Vishnu temples, the Lord holds the conch in his right hand instead of the discuss. There are also shrines for Sastha and Lord Krishna.



Thiruvanvandoor Mahavishnu Temple

The Thiruvanvandoor Mahavishnu Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu and located in Thiruvanvandoor, Constructed in the Kerala style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu, who is worshipped as Paambanaiappan. It is one of the five ancient shrines in the Chengannur area of Kerala.



Puliyur Mahavishnu Temple

The Puliyur Mahavishnu Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu and located in Puliyoor, Kerala, South India. Constructed in the Kerala style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th 9th centuries AD. The Rock Cut Cave Temple

The Rock Cut Cave Temple located near Kaviyoor is an 8th century Rock-Cut temple built in Pallava style of architecture and a place of great archeological importance Dedicated to Lord Siva, this temple is one of the three rock-cut temples in Kerala and one of the rare specimens of rock-cut temples in Kerala. Lord Siva represented in the form of 3 feet high Siva Linga and is enshrined in a square cave. The shrine also contains idols of Ganapathy, Maharshi and Dwarapalakas.



Puthukkulangara Devi Temple

Puthukulangara Devi Temple is an ancient Hindu temple situated in the Othera village of Thiruvalla Taluk in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India, that is dedicated to the goddess, Durga Devi. The temple is owned by A Trust and an elected committee administrates the temple.
