Nawada is a city and a municipality in Bihar, India. It is also the headquarters of the Nawada district. It is the headquarters of the subdivision of the same name, lying on both sides of the Khuri River The name evolved from Nau-abad, meaning the new town. Nawada is located in the southern Bihar. Earlier it was a part of Gaya district. Nawada in historical times was ruled by dynasties like Brihadratha, Maurya, Kanah and the Gupta. In the era of Pals, it was the religious centre for the Hindu community.
