Lakhisarai town is the administrative headquarters of Lakhisarai district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated 50 km west of the town of Munger. The town hosts small scale industrial units, including rice mills and iron rod, sindur (vermilion), drugs and insecticide factories. The Ganges, Harohar and Kiul rivers flow through the district. There is a popular Hindu temple named Ashokdham Temple. Pokhram village in Lakhisarai has temples and a pond. Famous Hindu Temple of Shree Shesh Nag Baba in the west BABHAGAWAN Village.
Some of the famous rivers that pass through the district are Ganga, Haroohar and Kiul. The city exists towards the south of Begusarai and east of Bihar Sharif. Lakhisarai is bounded by Munger, Sheikhpura, Begusarai and Patna in the East, South, West and North respectively. This scenic place with the name Lakhisarai came into prevalence, as a new district created out of Munger. This place during the historical period also can be identified with the name of Munger or Ang Pradesh.
