Forbesganj

Forbesganj is an emerging city as well as a municipality situated in Araria district in the state of Bihar, India. Located at the border of Nepal and India, it is a vital economic centre in the region. During the British regime, the locality came under the administration of East India Company. It is believed that the area where the British official Mr. Forbe's bungalow was located was known to be “Residential Area”, and one of the sub - divisions in the area came to be known as “Forbesganj”. Forbesganj is a small but prominent city long known for its jute production. Off late the closure of these fiber mills have resulted in the slow death of the jute industry here.

Forbesganj is known to be a small tourist destination as one tends to club other popular destinations like Nagarkot, Kamarpukur, Jairambati and Madhubani along with it. While visiting Forbesganj these places also become a part of a visitor’s itinerary.
