Places To Visit In Bageshwar Sightseeing

At the junction of rivers Gomti and Saryu stands a large temple with conical towers. It is the shrine of 'Bageshwar' or 'Vyaghreshwar', the Tiger Lord, an avatar of Lord Shiva. Temple was erected by the Kumaon king Laxmi Chand in about 1450 AD.

Dedicated to goddess 'Chandika', the temple stands at a distance of about half a kilometer from Bageshwar. Every year thousands of devotees congregate here to offer obeisance to the deity, during the Navaratras.

Shikhar Temple Van is a village located in Kapkot Tehsil of Bageshwar district in Uttarakhand. Named after the God Mool Narayan, Shikhar Temple is located at the Shikhar Mountain. It can be reached by an 18 km motorable road from Kapkot to JHOPDA/JHOPRA followed by a 5 km bridle trek.

Situated 8 km from Bageshwar is a large cave, measuring 20 X 95 sq. m, housing the idols of Lord Shiva.

About Pindari Glacier and Trek The most easily accessible of all Glaciers, Pindari is over 3.2 km in length and 1.5 kms wide. Well within the reach of any trekker in six to seven days, it rewards a visit well paid any time between summers and early winters.
