Fuyang is a prefecture-level city in northwestern Anhui province, China. It borders Bozhou to the northeast, Huainan to the southeast, Lu'an to the south, and the province of Henan on all other sides. Centered by Yingzhou, its southern area was exploited first, while the northern region was changed later along with the ups and downs of Bozhou. Historically, Yingzhou and Bozhou are interrelated, but relatively independent. The domains of the two places were first unified during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It was not until the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) that the name Yingzhou was changed to the present one.
Wenfeng Pagoda is a landmark structure standing on Yingzhou Lu, the central artery of downtown. Like the Kuixing Tower at the southeast corner of the city wall of old city zone, Wenfeng Pagoda is also a Fengshui tower. The West Lake of Yingzhou which is 15 km west of the city proper is becoming a top attraction in northwestern Anhui. The scenic area contains a stele forest, old style buildings, and garden buildings, all of which blend perfectly with the surrounding natural scenery.
