Yemmiganur

Yemmiganur is a municipal town and mandal headquarters in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It belongs to Rayalaseema region. It is located 71 KM towards west from District head quarters Kurnool. It is a Mandal head quarter. Yemmiganur is one of the major towns in the Kurnool district. It was part of the Vijayanagar from the 14th century to the 16th century. From 1953 to 1956 it was an Andhra state, now in part of Andhra Pradesh. In 1965 the Panchayat of Yemiganur was upgraded to a Municipality.
