Tiruvuru is a town in Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a nagar panchayat in Tiruvuru mandal of Nuzvid revenue division. It belongs to Andhra region . It is located 137 KM towards North from District head quarters Machilipatnam. It is a Mandal head quarter. The town is well known as a trade and business center for the surrounding 50 villages. The nearest towns are Vissannapeta, Mylavaram and Nuzvid. It is historically a significant place, as the famous Vijayanagara King Sri Krishna Devaraya had a visit to this town during his Jaitra Yatra of Kondapalli in the year 1540 AD. According to several legends, it is said that, about 20,000 Jainas  had been brutally killed by Veerashaivas (people who believe in Shaivism) in the ancient period.
