Rayachoti

Rayachoti is a town in Kadapa district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality in Rayachoti mandal of Kadapa revenue division. It is located 53 KM towards South from District head quarters Kadapa. 434 KM from State capital Hyderabad It is one of the oldest town in Andhra Pradesh. Old name or historical name of rayachoti is "rachaveedu(rajaveedu)" a Kannada name, means capital of king.

It is a wonder in the temple that the rays of Sun fall on Lord Veerabadra for five days in the month of March. The rays fall on the feet of the Lord on the first day and go upward each day and touch the face on the fifth day. Located in the bank of the mandavya river in, Rayachoti city, Andhra Pradesh bhadrakalisameta virabhadrasvami famous as Dakshina Kashi temple.This ancient temple is famous for the shrine of Veerashaiva.
